This is my favorite Taylor Swift quote, and possibly my favorite quote of all time because it speaks directly to why I’m a Taylor Swift fan.
The fact of the matter is, no matter who you are, people aren’t always going to be there for you. There isn’t a single person on the face of this planet who is always going to be there for you. It doesn’t matter who they are. Everyone will, at one point or another, let you down and leave you to fend for yourself. That’s just one of those shitty things in life that you really have to learn the hard way. Not everyone is going to care about you as much as you care about them, and that’s a hard thing to swallow because how do you get past that? If you truly care about someone and they don’t care about you back, platonic or romantic relationship, that’s the worst feeling in the entire world. And it leaves you feeling really lonely and insecure and scared.
The thing about music is that it’s never going to tell you that it doesn’t care about you. True, I have never met Taylor Swift, but she has been there for me more than any other person in my life has. There has never been a time where I have felt abandoned by Taylor’s music, because it’s just not possible. It was always there for me, and it always will be.
Sometimes I feel so sad or so mad or some extreme emotion, and I don’t want to talk to anybody about it, I just want to be alone to cry or scream or whatever – and friends don’t always understand that. Taylor does understand that and the only thing I want when I feel like that is her music.
